(Newser) – It's not every beloved pet whose death is accompanied by a presidential statement, but George W. Bush's remaining Scottish terrier from his White House days got one. Miss Beazley died yesterday at age 9 after a fight with lymphoma, reports Politico. "She was a source of joy during our time in Washington and Dallas," wrote Bush. "And even though [Barney] received all the attention, Beazley never held a grudge against him." (The former president saluted her on Instagram here.) Beazley was a 2005 birthday gift to first lady Laura Bush; her canine cohort Barney, who starred in videos like this, died last year at 12.
