Unranked Washington snapped a four-game losing streak by defeating No. 5 UCLA, 71-61. Justin Dentmon came off the bench to score 20 points for the Huskies, who got their fourth consecutive home win against the Bruins (21-3). UCLA stars Darren Collison and freshman Kevin Love were held well below their season scoring averages. Elsewhere in college hoops:

  • No. 13 Xavier won the battle of the top two teams in the Atlantic 10, 76-72 over St. Joseph's thanks to Stanley Burrell's clinching free throws with 13 seconds left.
  • Indiana, fully immersed in conference play after a soft early schedule, today won against a quality opponent, as Eric Gordon and D.J. White led the 14th-ranked Hoosiers to a 59-53 victory at Ohio State.
