(Newser) – Five days ago, Maya Angelou posted her final tweet, and it's as poetic as you might expect. It also, as Mediaite notes, provides a fitting epitaph for a writer who used her own experiences to reach out to others. "Listen to yourself and in that quietude you might hear the voice of God," Angelou wrote. She had some 400,000 Twitter followers, and she often tweeted in recent months, Mediaite reports. Angelou died this morning. In a wide ranging interview a year ago, she laughingly told the Daily Beast she wanted her epitaph to read thusly: "I did my best, I hope you do the same."

Maya, what a beautiful name. The word painter, visionary, student of Lady Wisdom. She knew how to make sense out of life's purpose and she shared her insights in poetic and prosaic writings. Her presence will be sorely missed. Salute!

Maya Angelou had a beautiful heart and soul. How could people post such ignorant spiteful evil comments about this beautiful woman of God and yes I said of God because that is all she talked about. I do not say this lightly but if I had one wish to be like anybody else in this world for a day, I would choose this woman. People like her bring love and peace into the world and their words run through your soul like fire and warms the heart. There is so much that i could say about Maya Angelou. I'm sad because she is no longer here and I will no longer hear her voice but my soul and heart is at peace because I know that she woke up and saw the face of her creater. She finished her journey here on earth and i'm sure that she was pleased. SHE LIVED HER LIFE AND LIVED IT WELL, SO EVERYONE WHO IS TALKING *ISH CAN GO TO HELL*!!! (I know that last part was mean but people are pissing me off!)
