Lynsey Horne has been charged with public intoxication and disorderly conduct.   (Auburn Police)

(Newser) – There is no correct way to pass out drunk on railroad tracks, but a young woman in Alabama apparently managed to do so in a way that saved her life and her limbs. Police responding to a report of a person hit by a train Wednesday morning were astonished to find Lynsey Horne, 22, on the tracks, completely unharmed and still asleep. "You can certainly call it a miracle," a police spokeswoman in Auburn tells WTVM. What probably helped Horne survive, she says, is "the fact the train was only two engines and a car" and passed over her very quickly.

"Plus, because of her small build and stature, she was able to lay in a way that she was not struck by the train or hit by another object from the train," the spokeswoman says. "She is very, very fortunate to not have been injured." Horne was, however, charged with public intoxication and disorderly conduct, AL.com reports. Police say the disorderly conduct charge is for causing a disruption that forced the train to be stopped, an ambulance called, and a medical helicopter put on standby. (In another lucky escape, a mom in Minnesota found her toddler unharmed after she saw a train hit her car while he was inside.)

After being hit by the train she reportedly said; "I'm feeling fine, just a little run down." She "may" want to cut back on the drinking just a little bit !
