(Newser) – Since 1984, Alex Trebek has hosted 6,829 episodes of Jeopardy!, and that's a record. As of last night, he holds the Guinness World Record for "most game show episodes hosted by the same presenter," the Hollywood Reporter notes. He's been the host of the show ever since in relaunched; it initially ran from 1964 to 1979 with Art Fleming as host, the Los Angeles Times notes. "It's an honor to hold the Guinness World Record for hosting Jeopardy!, which I've often said is the best of reality TV," he says. Trebek is 73, but he told the Reporter last month that he'd "stick with it as long as I'm having a good time and as long as I feel my skills haven't diminished too much."

A Jeopardy show of shows would be a "Reverse Jeopardy Show" with one guest contestant and a celebrity host who has won big in the past. The one contestant? Alex Trebek. Will he or won't he answer questions in every category correctly? That would be a great show.

Its interesting how Sony Television will try to sneak in promos for Wheel of Fortune in distribution copies of Jeopardy and vice versa. But very often a station can only afford to air one of them and rival stations wind up with one each but rarely both. So you don't want to promote your rival's programs and you have to go in and take it out.
