Harsh Reality: Clinton May Lose

(Newser) – With a string of losses swinging momentum away, Hillary Clinton’s campaign staff and supporters are slowly realizing she could actually lose. “She has to win both Ohio and Texas comfortably, or she’s out,” a superdelegate supporting the onetime frontrunner told the New York Times. Other superdelegates say they might jump ship if Barack Obama looks stronger.

With Obama favored to win all of February’s contests, Clinton is trying desperately to focus on the long view. "We can’t wait to get to March 4" and the Texas and Ohio primaries, said a top fundraiser. “There is no evidence that voters are voting based on momentum,” her communications director said. And though Clinton can’t hope to match the $1 million a day Obama is raking in, her campaign is on pace for its single best fundraising month.
