'Spore' to Finally Debut in Fall

Posted Feb 12, 08 6:12 PM CST in Business Arts & Living Technology

(Newser) – EA said that its “Spore” videogame, long in development, would be released September 7, Marketwatch reports. The company is expecting the game, designed by “Sims” and “SimCity” creator Will Wright, to generate big revenues, given the near-mythical status its long gestation time and solid-gold pedigree have endowed it with.

In “Spore” players will manage life from the ground up, starting with unicellular organisms, developing into to sentient beings which form tribal connections, and eventually a space-faring civilization. Although the game is mostly single player, the final space phase will allow interaction with other players' planets online a la multiplayer games like “World of Warcraft.” EA says that “Spore” will be available for Windows PC, Mac, Nintendo DS and also certain mobile phone platforms.
