(Newser) – The wife of "handsome mugshot man" Jeremy Meeks is none too thrilled with his newfound online celebrity, Fox News reports. Arrested this week on a gang charge and five weapons charges, Meeks fueled tens of thousands of Facebook "likes" and more than 11,000 shares with his blue-eyed, chiseled mug shot—but his wife is "furious," a friend told CBS Sacramento at Meeks' arraignment on Friday. "Her man is in there and people are taking it as a joke, thinking it’s funny talking about his looks, saying all kinds of crazy things." In other "Meek-dreamy" news:

  • Meeks says he appreciates the attention, "but I just want them to know that this really is not me," he told News 10.
  • That said, Meeks has served two years for grand theft and had "brushes with the law" for resisting arrest and associating with the Crips gang, CNN reports. This time he was arrested by Stockton police for driving a car that contained a round of ammunition, an unregistered handgun, and a little marijuana, police said.
  • Meeks' mom insists his criminal life is all in the past. She says he's a family man with a son, a practicing Christian for seven years, and only packs heat because he's an ex-gang member who has to protect himself, TMZ reports. She's also started a GoFundMe page to raise money for his defense.
  • Pay for his defense? Phhh: One online commenter has offered to foot Meeks' entire $900,000 bail, reports Mediaite. "His bail is $900,000. Seriously, I’m willing to pay it," went the Yahoo comment. "How do I do that? and if I pay his bail, does that mean he won’t go to jail? and do you think he’ll marry me?"

One reason looser women want a “relationship” with a guy in jail is because for one thing, she knows where he is all of the time, and he’s obviously not with any women either (with other men is another story, but at least she doesn't have to worry about her man being some other ho's baby's daddy!). AND she doesn’t have to worry about him hanging around the house getting beat on!

A Thug, is a Thug, he'll be in there again...carrying a weapon, is a violation of his parole. He's a career criminal, he won't change. He should go to jail and stay there for a long time, but some idiot judge will set him free and then he'll do something worse.

She is furious at the ridiculous women lusting after a picture? What about the fact he broke the law and is now in jail? A. It's just a good picture. He is an ugly man when you see the rest of them, B. He may be a "family man," but he is a family man who is also a criminal. I get that she cannot say that because he is going to trial, but still, c'mon women. He is not 50 shades of gray material, he is a low-life scum bag, and he has no money to redeem himself. Life with him would be sheer hell. Get a divorce wife. Your life is going downhill fast.
