The Dallas Mavericks pushed away Jason Kidd trade rumors long enough last night to hammer the Portland Trail Blazers 96-76, reports the Dallas Morning News. Dirk Nowitzki led the way with 37 points as the Mavs snapped a two-game losing streak. Devean George, who stalled the Kidd trade earlier, started for Dallas and went 0-for-11 from the floor.

"Man, it was tough for me. I'm not even going to fake it," George said. The rest of the Mavs picked up the slack. Jason Terry had 24 points, J.J. Barea had 11 and Erick Dampier had 10.  "We had a lot of other guys come together for us tonight and get it done," said Mavs coach Avery Johnson. Nowitzki had 20 points in the first half and Terry had 15 as Dallas shot 47.6%. (More NBA stories.)
