A family fight in a small town in North Carolina ended with 84-year-old Lloyd Woodlief dead, his 49-year-old son Lloyd Peyton Woodlief hospitalized with a gunshot wound, and his 11-year-old grandson in custody. Police in Kittrell say a preliminary investigation suggests the grandfather shot and wounded his son with a 22-caliber pistol before the grandson shot him dead with a 12-gauge shotgun, reports CNN. A juvenile petition, the equivalent of an arrest warrant for adult offenders, has been taken out against the boy and he is now in the custody of juvenile services, the Henderson Dispatch reports. Charges are pending and the investigation is ongoing, police say. (More shooting stories.)
