(Newser) – In San Diego, strip clubs must submit to "regular inspections" by police—but 30 strippers are suing the city and the police chief over "raids" that, they say, went way too far. In three visits over the course of this year and last, the lawsuit filed yesterday alleges, the officers who performed the licensing inspections at Cheetahs Gentlemen's Club and Club Expose forced the "nearly nude" strippers to pose for pictures in various positions, all while making "arrogant and demeaning comments," Reuters reports. The suit also alleges the women were ordered "to expose body parts so that [police] could ostensibly photograph their tattoos," something a police rep says is part of the inspection process.

The rep calls the whole thing a "regulatory matter," according to the Los Angeles Times. But an attorney for the women says the cops went beyond city regulations, and also accuses them of detaining the dancers for more than an hour, with no probable cause. The suit alleges that officers blocked the exits as well, Fox 5 reports. The women want unspecified damages for emotional distress, saying their rights to freedom from unreasonable search and seizure were violated.

The sad/scary thing is, we have become numb to it. Corruption and abuse are RAMPANT, every day cops are raping, maiming, and killing our citizens, while we fuss for a moment and then do nothing to stop it.

The cops should have just filmed the show on the departments dime. Not much difference in results.

Gee what a surprise! Another article about dirty of hundreds I've read about in just the last few months. I hope those dancers get millions from the city and those cops get fired. I'm getting so sick of dirty cops......and I believe I'm not alone in this thinking. Will be interesting to see just how long society puts up with having their rights and liberties trampled on by bully thug cops who walk around "badge heavy" doing as they please. When authorities get more and more power, which they are getting, more and more violations will occur.......which they are. Many many years ago, about 30 or so, I did a one year stint on a small town police force, thinking it may be something worth devoting my life to. Boy was I wrong! Long story short, most (about 80%) of the other cops were dishonest and crooked, and even worse were complete bullys to the general public. If I didn't go along and tow the line, then I'd have been an outcast. I just finished out the year and gave notice saying I had other aspirations in life. I also noticed two other fellas that were there around the same time give notice as well. Those two guys were very honest and hard working, but I could tell that the dishonest and crooked ways of the police force rubbed them wrong and so left. Unfortunately this keeps any good cops from staying, and leaves all the bad ones to rise up in the ranks to even higher power positions. Very sad.......especially in such a great country we have. Sad.
