Canes Prevail on Odd Night for Penguins

Posted Feb 15, 08 4:07 AM CST in Sports

(Newser) – Dany Sabourin's 42 saves weren't enough to keep Carolina from going up 4-2 and sending Pittsburgh to its second straight loss—an ignominious double defeat the Penguins haven't experienced since December. "It's no time to panic," said Brooks Orpik, whose goal for Pittsburgh was his first in 181 games, reports the Post-Gazette. Elsewhere on official ice:

  • A 5-4 loss to New York left a bedraggled Toronto team alone at the bottom of the Eastern Conference, with playoff hopes even dimmer than ever.
  • Nashville went into last night's game 5-0-1 for its homestand, but fell dramatically behind to a hungry Chicago team that put together a 6-1 rout.
