Meet Minnesota's Newest Mayor: Duke the Dog
Duke the dog is the newly elected mayor of a Minnesota town.   (ABC News)

At 7 years old, Duke isn't the youngest mayor that Minnesota has ever had—that honor goes to 5-year-old Bobby Tufts, who recently lost his second re-election bid in Dorset. But Duke might just be the state's first dog mayor. The dozen residents of the tiny and obviously progressive village of Cormorant each paid $1 to cast their votes, reports CBS Minnesota, and Duke came out on top. Residents tell WDAY that the Great Pyrenees, who "won by a landslide," enjoys an occasional burger and fries at the pub, helps keep speeding motorists in check, and will be paid his mayoral salary in kibble from a local pet store. Pretty awesome, Duke. Maybe they'll put your name on a bourbon bottle next. (More Duke the dog stories.)
