(Newser) – In a Pentagon briefing today, Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel said US airstrikes have helped Iraqi and Kurdish forces regain their footing in Iraq, but he expects Islamic State militants will regroup and stage a new offensive. Joint Chiefs Chairman Gen. Martin Dempsey said it's possible to contain the Islamic State militants, but it can't be done permanently without going after the group in Syria. Speaking to reporters with Hagel, Dempsey said he wasn't predicting US airstrikes in Syria, but said the problem must be addressed diplomatically, politically, and militarily by America and its regional partners.

Asked to compare ISIS with al-Qaeda, Hagel said the militant group that's been battling for ground in northern Iraq is "beyond anything we've seen" and is not "just a terrorist group," reports NBC News. "They marry an ideology with a sophistication of strategy and military prowess" that "represents a whole new paradigm of threats to this country." Hagel said all options were on the table, including airstrikes into Syria. The US has restricted its military action to Iraq, but concerns have increased as the Islamic militant group extends its reach and work from safe havens in Syria.

IsIs is fixing to be WasWas! They done went any opened up a whole new can of whoop-ass on themselves with those primitive, medevial, punk-ass, thuggish scare tactics, used on a US citizen working abroad. Their gonna be getting a lesson in professional warfare and aerial bombardment with state-of-the -art artillery and aircraft! They need to be praying to their God, that the US, don't send in some pissed off ground troops and special forces, they need to go an dig in deep as they can in their wormholes, cause Billy-Badass is coming to town!

Now that ISIS has created their own state they will have to organize. Have a real army, depots etc. Once they do that they become direct targets. Why should the US be responsible for the destruction of ISIS? We can't kill all of them. They would just go back underground and fight another day. The other Arab country's will be forced to decide on siding with ISIS and their Islamic Leader or fighting them. There's no middle ground with ISIS, they will cut your head off in the public square. Egypt, Saudi Arabia, all those Islamic country's have to make a public decision. John Kerry should be pushing for and Arab Summit Meeting and put the responsibility where it belongs. Where the hell is the UN?

Look at the way these two old men are itching to send a nation to war. Martin Dempsey is telling the same tall tales Colin Powell told. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/jonathan-schwarz/colin-powell-wmd-iraq-war_b_2624620.html
