(Newser) – Two women are alive after a very close encounter with a great white shark last night. Ida Parker and Kristin Orr had taken their kayaks out off the coast of Plymouth, Mass., to look for seals when a shark approached, flipped them, and took one of the kayaks in its jaws. The women say they saw no fins or other warning the shark was there until it flipped them. "It was dark gray, [with a] pointy nose, big teeth, big eye. It was right next to me, it was petrifying," Parker says. "We sat in the water for about 30 minutes [before help came]—it was the scariest 30 minutes of my life." Experts examined the bite marks and confirmed it was a great white, probably about 14 to 16 feet long.
