8-Limbed Indian Tot Walking

Posted Feb 19, 08 5:10 AM CST in World Science & Health

(Newser) – Three months after she underwent an intensive, 27-hour hour operation to remove her parasitic twin's four limbs, 2-year-old Indian tot Lakshmi Tatma, is beginning to walk with assistance, reports the Daily Telegraph. "When she was put in the baby walker she started pushing herself backwards with her legs and burst into laughter with a huge grin on her face," said her mom.

"Lakshmi always knew she was different. After the operation she instinctively started behaving like a normal child. It's like she had always been waiting for the opportunity." Many Indians believe the girl is an incarnation of Lakshmi, the four-armed Hindu goddess of wealth. "For as long as she is alive, until my dying day, I will believe she is the goddess," said her father.
