(Newser) – Gunning for their second Big East upset in three days, Syracuse came up short against No. 18 Louisville, 61-50. The Orange had pared a 10-point deficit to two with 2:20 left, but the Cardinals closed the game on a 9-0 run to keep pace atop the Big East with No. 12 Georgetown.

The Hoyas fell to Syracuse on Saturday. The Orange seemed to show signs of fatigue, shooting uncharacteristically poorly (24% in the first half) and yielding a 53-35 rebounding edge, including 19 offensive boards. The Cardinals kept things competitive by sustaining early foul trouble; center David Padgett played only 17 minutes.
