(Newser) – The No. 12 Georgetown Hoyas came into Providence having lost two of their past three, and for a time it looked like the Friars would help Georgetown continue their slid. But three-pointers keyed a 17-2 Hoya run that gave them a nine-point lead midway through the second half. Georgetown would go on to win 68-58, according to the Associated Press.

Roy Hibbert had 18 points and eight rebounds to lead the Hoyas, who remained in a tie with Louisville for first in the Big East. Providence has now lost four straight and eight of their last nine and will need to turn things around quickly if they want to qualify for the conference tournament. Weyinmi Efejuku led the Friars with 25 points.
