Fitness program Wii Fit for the Nintendo Wii system, video games that let players warp Disneyized fairy tales, a parents-oriented video game review site, and initiatives by major publishers to let independent designers and even players develop games—those were the highlights of the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco this week, reports USA Today.

Wii Fit, due out May 19 for under $100, includes yoga, strength training, aerobics and balance activities. "It's not a game, it's a tool to help a broad audience to get fit,” says a Nintendo rep. Meanwhile, American McGee's Grimm games will guide players in restoring Brothers Grimm tales to some of their pre-Disney gory glory and What They Play informs parents about popular games.
