Guy in Bear Suit Collects $84M Check
China's second-richest bear speaks to the press.   (Sina premium)

A guy who can now afford a lot more than just the bare necessities of life turned up in a bright-yellow bear suit to collect a lottery prize worth $84.4 million. The 520 million yuan jackpot the Shanxi province man collected is the third biggest in Chinese history, reports Metro. Why the suit? Lottery winners in China have taken to wearing furry suits when collecting prizes so they don't get spotted on local news and face demands for cash from "family, friends, enemies, and the government," explains Shanghaiist, which notes that the Shanxi winner isn't China's wealthiest bear: Someone in a panda suit took home $92.2 million in 2011.
