Medical officials have confirmed that remains found last week belong to missing University of Virginia student Hannah Graham, the Daily Progress reports. Police have notified her parents. "When we started this journey together, we all hoped for a happier ending," they say in a statement, per CNN. "Sadly, that was not to be, but due to the tenacity and determination of (Charlottesville Police Chief Timothy) Longo, Hannah is coming home to us, and we will be eternally grateful to him for this." Police had already referred to the case as a "death investigation" following the discovery of the remains. (More Hannah Graham stories.)
