LG Pulls Laptop Model After Battery Melts

LG pulled a laptop model from stores following a report that the battery melted while in use, the AP reports. A company spokesman said it had opened an investigation into the meltdown, adding that the model is no longer in production and is sold only in South Korea.

A graduate student in South Korea reported that his laptop’s battery melted Thursday night, the spokesman said. LG batteries are designed to melt in special cases to avoid a potential explosion.
