Former Gitmo Prosecutor to Testify for Bin Laden Driver

(Newser) – The former chief prosecutor at Guantanamo will be a defense witness for Osama bin Laden's driver at his upcoming military tribunal, the AFP reports. Morris Davis, who has become an outspoken critic of the administration’s legal approach to the war on terror since his resignation in October, will testify on behalf of Salim Hamdan, who is accused of delivering arms to terrorist agents.

"I'm more than happy to testify," Morris told the AP, saying it was "an opportunity to tell the truth" about what he sees as abuses of the system. Morris resigned in the fall because he objected to the use of waterboarding. He also alleges that the fairness of tribunals is compromised by political interference.
