House of Cards Actress Dead at 61

Elizabeth Norment, who played the executive secretary to Kevin Spacey's character on House of Cards, died earlier this month at age 61, her agent told NBC News yesterday. Norment, who also appeared on TV shows including Law & Order, ER, St. Elsewhere, and LA Law, died at New York's Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center on Oct. 13. "Everyone at House of Cards is deeply saddened by Elizabeth’s passing," the show's executive producer says in a statement. "She was a talented actress, a warm soul, and a good friend to us all."

Spacey, who plays Frank Underwood, also remembered Norment, who played Nancy Kaufberger. "RIP Elizabeth Norment," he tweeted. "We all loved her and she leaves a void in all of us here at HoC's." (More House of Cards stories.)
