Richardson Is Out of the Race, But In Demand

Posted Feb 23, 08 1:15 PM CST in Politics

(Newser) – The remaining Dem hopefuls have been pursuing Bill Richardson since he left the presidential race, the New York Times reports. In fact Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama are calling the New Mexico governor daily seeking his endorsement. Obama’s approach is “a surgical bomb,” Richardson said, while “the Clintons are more like a carpet bomb.”

As a Hispanic governor and superdelegate, Richardson is one of the biggest potential endorsers and says he’s “genuinely torn." He did drink and smoke with Bill Clinton while watching the Super Bowl, but also described Obama as a leader “who is creating something that’s really good in this country.” He would not say who got his vote in the New Mexico caucuses—only that he didn't vote for himself.
