Look Out, Spotify? YouTube Launching Music Service
YouTube is launching Music Key, a subscription music service.   (Mstifye)

In what could signal more trouble for Spotify, YouTube announced today that its much ballyhooed subscription music service is launching next week. It's called YouTube Music Key, and like Spotify Premium, it'll set you back $9.99 a month for ad-free and offline listening. Unlike Spotify, it'll also get you access to Google Play Music's 30 million songs—not to mention YouTube's collection of music videos. YouTube will beta test Music Key on an invitation-only basis. The subscription music service field is getting pretty crowded, notes CNBC, with Amazon Prime Music, iTunes, Beats, etc., already in the mix. Plus, with millions of users long accustomed to YouTube being free, it's not clear how eager they will be to pony up the greenbacks. (More YouTube stories.)
