(Newser) – No. 24 Kansas State got 75 points from its freshman duo of Michael Beasley and Bill Walker, but the Wildcats still couldn't beat Baylor tonight, reports the Associated Press. Curtis Jerrells scored 24 points to lead the Bears to a 92-86 Big 12 win. Beasley had a conference-record 44 points and Walker pumped in 31, but it wasn't enough.

Beasley, who has three 40-plus games this season, hit two free throws with 1:56 to cut the Bears (18-8, 6-6) lead to 87-85, but the Wildcats (18-8, 8-4) couldn't get any closer in losing their fourth straight road game. Beasley also had 13 rebounds for his 23rd double-double, breaking the NCAA freshman record of Syracuse's Carmelo Anthony.
