(Newser) – The Red Wings have plenty of troubles without having to watch a hometown boy return to Detroit to pile it on, but that didn't stop Ryan Kesler from making two solo charges to the net in the third period of Vancouver's 4-1 triumph. With injuries depleting the defensive line, the Red Wings never really had a chance, the Detroit News reports.

Alexander Edler opened things up for Vancouver in the first quarter, and although Pavel Datsyuk evened the score minutes later, the Canucks were by no means finished. Daniel Sedin got his second assist of the night on Sami Salo's second-period goal, and then Kesler took over. The loss was Detroit's eighth in the last nine games.
