Creed, the hard-rock group that rose to the top of the charts in the late '90s with hits like "Higher" and "Arms Wide Open," isn't currently touring, which has apparently left Scott Stapp in a bit of a spot, Variety reports. The group's frontman posted a 15-minute video on Facebook yesterday in which he reveals he's broke, homeless, and a victim of a "clerical error" by the IRS that helped clean out his wallet. "Right now I'm living in a Holiday Inn, by the grace of God, because there's been a couple of weeks I had to sleep in my truck," he says in the video, labeled "Public Statement #1" (meaning perhaps there's more to come?). "I had no money, not even for gas or food. I went two days without eating because I had no money and ended up in an emergency room." He goes on to explain that "a lot of money was stolen from me" and "royalties not paid" and insists that he's completely sober and can prove it.

One Facebook commenter worries that Stapp may be having a "nervous breakdown," but maybe the singer's confession has more to do with the divorce and full custody of his three children that his wife filed for this week, as noted by Gawker. Ex-beauty queen Jaclyn Stapp, who has been married to Scott for eight years, says her husband took off from their home in October and has been going on drug binges and threatening to hurt himself and his family, the Miami Herald reports. He's also apparently been sending her weird texts with statements like "Florida is not safe. Biological weapons on the way. U have to leave with kids and meet me in Atlanta" and "I wouldn't doubt it if the CIA is behind Alcoholics Anonymous." (A Norwegian teen says Creed songs saved him from being attacked by wolves.)
