(Newser) – It wasn’t pretty, but the Philadelphia Flyers’ 10-game losing streak has finally ended. Daneil Briere beat his former teammate Ryan Miller in the shootout to give Philadelphia a 4-3 victory over the Buffalo Sabres; with the win the Flyers avoided setting a record for most consecutive losses. Jason Pominville had a goal and an assist in the loss, reports the AP.

Philadelphia trailed 3-0 in the first period but quick goals by Jeff Carter and Scott Hartnell brought the score to 3-2. RJ Umberger scored the equalizer for the Flyers with just over 7 minutes remaining in the third period. Mike Knuble had two assists and Martin Biron stopped 26 shots in the victory.
