CentCom's Twitter Hacked by Purported ISIS Backers Hackers warn US soldiers to watch their backs By Polly Davis Doig, Newser Staff Posted Jan 12, 2015 12:21 PM CST 34 comments Comments This is what CentCom's Twitter page looked like earlier this afternoon. (Twitter.com/@centcom) (Newser) – The US Central Command's Twitter page was ominously hacked today by a group claiming to be allied with ISIS—a particularly bold move, notes Politico, because President Obama was delivering a speech on cybersecurity at the FTC. US officials are confirming the hack and @CentCom is currently suspended; the Daily Beast describes calling a "frenzied" CentCom, and being told only that "we are all working on it." The hacked account posted personal details of military personnel and warnings such as this: "AMERICAN SOLDIERS, WE ARE COMING, WATCH YOUR BACK. ISIS." CentCom's YouTube channel was also hacked, notes the Washington Post. A longer statement read thusly: "In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful, the CyberCaliphate under the auspices of ISIS continues its CyberJihad. While the US and its satellites kill our brothers in Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan we broke into your networks and personal devices and know everything about you."
