Denver Airport: No More Pot-Themed Souvenirs

People flying out of the main airport in the Mile High City will no longer be allowed to buy souvenirs to remind them of how they got legally high there. Marijuana is still banned in Denver International Airport and authorities have decided to ban marijuana-themed keepsakes as well, reports USA Today. "There's a lot more to our state than marijuana," says an airport spokesman, explaining that items with pictures of marijuana leaves or the word "marijuana" will be banned, although puns are still OK. "A picture of a pot leaf on a T-shirt would not be allowed, but people are creative ... and they will find ways to express that innuendo," he says. "People will be creative, and people will skirt the rules."

Pot-themed souvenirs are still allowed in Colorado's smaller airports, and in Seattle's main airport. Ann Jordan, owner of High-ly Legal Colorado, which makes items including marijuana-themed boxer shorts and flip-flops, accuses airport authorities of hypocrisy, noting that a whole walkway at the airport is devoted to a craft beer exhibit, the AP reports. "Why is everybody so riled up about the picture of a plant?" she wonders. (Whether they agree with marijuana legalization or not, all Coloradans may be getting a pot-tax refund.)
