Ga. Civilians Nab Fugitive Murder Suspect

Posted Feb 29, 08 10:11 AM CST in US Crime & Courts World

(Newser) – A New Zealand man on the run for 6 months after allegedly killing his wife and abandoning his toddler daughter was captured this week in an Atlanta suburb, CNN reports. The little girl, nicknamed "Pumpkin," captured hearts around the world after her father abandoned her at a Melbourne, Australia, train station and fled to LA in September, shortly before her mother's body was discovered in Auckland.

Nai Yin Xue was later spotted in Texas, Mississippi, and Alabama. "They didn't like the fact that this guy was running around,” a spokesman for the US Marshals said of the Chinese community. Residents of a Chamblee, Ga., apartment complex recognized him from a photo in a Chinese-language newspaper, cornered him, and tied him up with his own pants, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.
