(Newser) – A mother's bikini photo wins the Internet for all the right reasons in this week's roundup of uplifting stories:

  • Mom's Proud Photo of 'Flabby' Bikini Body Goes Viral: "I have stretch marks and I wear a bikini." So begins the bold caption under Rachel Hollis' equally bold Facebook photo: one that shows the mother of three at a Cancun beach with her "permanently flabby" belly exposed. Judging by the online response, Hollis struck a chord.
  • After NYC Blast, Good Samaritan to the Rescue: Austin Branda was home practicing his drums when this week's East Village explosion erupted across the street. Soon he was climbing up a fire escape to help a woman struggling to escape. He says that when the explosion occurred, an old memory of his dad came to mind.

  • Dave Grohl Helps Out Dying Fan: A Foo Fighters fan in Australia had hoped to meet the band before his terminal cancer made that impossible, but Dave Grohl had to cancel all his meet-and-greet fan sessions because of food poisoning. • UNC Coach Leaves $200 to Each Player in Will: Before North Carolina basketball coach Dean Smith died last month, he made an unusual arrangement in his will: All of his former players are getting $200 to go out to dinner. Given that Smith coached for 36 seasons, that's no small gesture.
  • Tim Cook Reveals Plans for His Fortune: Apple's chief has somewhere in the neighborhood of $800 million worth of company stock, and he's already got plans for the bulk of it. In a word, charity.
