Looking to Knock Out Clinton, Obama Spends Big

Posted Mar 2, 08 6:31 AM CST in Politics

(Newser) – Barack Obama is lavishing his considerable campaign wealth on advertising and get-out-the-vote efforts in Texas and Ohio, hoping to deal a death blow this week to Hillary Clinton's faltering campaign. The Obama cash blitz is most apparent on television, where he is outspending Clinton nearly 2-to-1 in both states, the New York Times reports.

The TV assault has paid off with deep inroads into the double-digit leads Clinton held a few weeks ago. Clinton, who raised $32 million in February, is fighting back with her own extensive on-the-ground effort in both states. Both candidates "are dumping a lot of money" in the March 4 primary states, said a Clinton strategist.
