(Newser) – Brian Boucher had a perfect start to his Sharks career, recording 24 saves en route to blanking the Blues. The veteran backup goalie got support from his teammates, who made 34 shots on goal in the 2-0 decision, reports the San Jose Mercury News. "What I liked was how calm he was," said coach Ron Wilson.

Meanwhile, in Arizona, the Coyotes needed a win to boost their playoff hopes, but their own cold shooting combined with three assists from Calgary's Kristian Huselius made for a 3-1 Flames victory. Phoenix had fallen behind by two goals within just six minutes, and couldn't get past former teammate Curtis Joseph to make a successful comeback attempt.
