Dallas Morning News Endorses Huckabee

Posted Mar 2, 08 4:31 PM CST in Politics

(Newser) – While acknowledging success for Mike Huckabee is "mathematically impossible," the Dallas Morning News today endorsed the ex-Arkansas governor. The editorial board praised his “good-natured approach to politics” and acknowledged that its continuing support is more symbolic than practical, calling a vote for Huckabee “a good investment in the Republican Party's future.”

The paper said John McCain’s 71 years and “his choleric temperament gave us pause, particularly when contrasted to Mr. Huckabee's sunny-side-up brand of conservatism.” It did, however, knock Huckabee for being “on the wrong side” of abortion and gay rights. in the Democratic primary, the Morning News supported frontrunner Barack Obama.
