Kobe Bryant scored the Lakers' last 14 points in the fourth quarter and totaled 52 points on the afternoon as LA topped Dallas in overtime, 108-104. The Mavs' Dirk Nowitzki, who scored 30 points, sent the game to the extra session by hitting a 3-pointer with two seconds left but missed another tying three at the end of overtime that could have extended the game, reports the AP.

The Mavericks held a small lead entering the fourth quarter but had no answer for Kobe, who added 11 rebounds to his impressive point total. His new sidekick, Pau Gasol, contributed 17 points and 14 rebounds, as LA improved to 12-2 since Gasol's acquisition. Dallas' Erick Dampier was a force inside with 16 points and 17 rebounds before fouling out late. (More NBA stories.)
