A Silicon Valley entrepreneur who also happened to be the husband of Facebook exec Sheryl Sandberg is dead unexpectedly at age 47, reports CNNMoney. The cause of Dave Goldberg's death is unclear, but it occurred while he was on vacation abroad with Sandberg, according to a post by Mark Zuckerberg. "Sheryl is a very strong person and knows we're all thinking of her," Zuckerberg wrote. "She is requesting privacy for now and will update us when she's ready." Goldberg most recently has been CEO of SurveyMonkey, which the New York Times says is "known for its web-based survey technology."
In her book Lean In, Sandberg warns about how the lack of support from a spouse can damage a woman's career, notes CNNMoney, something she avoided by finding a "true partner" in Goldberg. "My career and marriage are inextricably intertwined," she wrote. They had two children together. Goldberg's brother has set up a tribute page on Facebook. Here's a typical sentiment, from Miguel Helft at Forbes: "I met Goldberg about a decade ago when he was Yahoo’s top music executive. He was the rare tech executive who was humble, kind, genuine, smart and immensely likable all at once."
