(Newser) – The Sharks and Canadiens alternated goals in the first and second periods, starting 56 seconds into the action with a Patrick Marleau shot past Montreal goalie Carey Price. San Jose broke the pattern in the third period, scoring twice to secure a 6-4 win, the National Press reports. Elsewhere in the world of pucks and blades:

A 3-1 defeat of the Senators marked Anaheim's sixth straight victory, and a rematch of last season's Stanley Cup finals. Todd Bertuzzi started things off with his first goal in nine games (and second in 17), and Corey Perry and Scott Niedermayer each added another score to keep Ottawa at bay while Jean-Sebastien Giguere saved 24.
