Flames Perfect Against Blue Jackets

Posted Mar 5, 08 3:00 AM CST in Sports

(Newser) – Everyone was waiting for Jarome Iginla to score his franchise-record-setting 356th goal for the Flames, but that didn't happen against the Blue Jackets. Little else occurred for Calgary, as their 1-0 victory came despite being thoroughly outshot by Columbus. Miikka Kiprusoff needed 39 saves to record the shutout, the Calgary Herald reports. Elsewhere in the NHL:

  • Nashville had scored by the first minute of the first period, and Martin Erat had a hat trick by the first minute of the second in the Predators' resounding 5-1 defeat of Edmonton.
  • Peter Forsberg "didn't seem too rusty" despite not having played for Colorado for nearly a year, and with him back the Avalanche snagged a 2-1 victory over Vancouver.
