NBC has announced Brian Williams won't be coming back as its Nightly News anchor, and Brian Williams has announced, via an interview on Today, that the months since his suspension in February have "been torture." "Looking back, it has been absolutely necessary," he told Matt Lauer this morning. "I have discovered a lot of things. I have been listening to and watching what amount to the black box recordings from my career—basically 20 years of public utterances."

One of his "black box" findings: "I said things that weren't true," he admits to Lauer. "I own up to this and I have to go through and see and try to figure out how it happened."
