Cécilia Sarkozy to Marry Lover in New York

France's ex-first lady copies ex-hubby in race down the aisle

(Newser) – Weeks after Nicolas Sarkozy married former model Carla Bruni at the French presidential palace, his ex-wife Cécilia will marry her one-time lover Richard Attias, reports the Telegraph. The former first lady's marriage to the Moroccon-born events manager was confirmed by the fashion house Versace, which announced it would be designing the bridal gown and the groom's suit. The two are to marry in New York on March 22.

A famous photograph of Cécilia and Attias in New York on the cover of Paris Match in 2005 marked the low point of the Sarkozys' marriage. They reconciled later that year but divorced after Nicolas became president. Sarkozy's quickie marriage to Bruni came just after a press report, which he vehemently denied, that the president texted Cécilia and promised to "drop everything" if she returned to him.
