Fla. Senator, DNC Tangle Over Primary Funding

(Newser) – With the nomination race tied up, eyes are turning to Florida and Michigan’s delegates, and top Democrats are mixing it up over funding for a primary re-do, the Hill reports. US Sen. Bill Nelson, a Hillary Clinton supporter, has urged the DNC to accept the results or pony up $20 million, warning that denying the delegates will be the “biggest train wreck you’ve ever seen.”

DNC chair Howard Dean says the party “can’t afford to do that,” adding, “That’s not our problem. We need our money to win the presidential race.” But Florida’s Republican governor and legislature refuse to pay for the repeat vote. Nelson predicts that Florida Democrats angered by the resolution, if there is one, simply won’t vote in November.
