Rapper 50 Cent is one of hip-hop's five richest artists, according to Forbes. He tried to paint a much different picture in court yesterday. The multiplatinum-selling artist, born Curtis Jackson III, appeared in Manhattan state Supreme Court in a proceeding to decide possible additional punitive damages in an invasion-of-privacy lawsuit. A jury has already ordered him to pay $5 million in a lawsuit brought by a woman who said he didn't have her permission when he released a sex tape she made with a boyfriend. Questioned by an attorney for the woman, Lastonia Leviston, the musician-actor denied owning many luxury items. Here's what he had to say about his supposed bling, per the AP and New York Post:

  • On his Lamborghinis, Bentleys, and Rolls Royces: "Those cars were rented."
  • On his jewelry: "I borrowed from the jeweler." (He says he owns just three gold chains.)
  • On his watch: He really wears a plastic Casio G-Shock.
  • On his unpaid debts: One of them is $1,737 he owes to his grandfather.
  • On his home: It does contain a nightclub, but he doesn't know what its zip code is.
  • On his true net worth: Not the $155 million Forbes claims, but $4.4 million.
  • On his earning potential: He did admit to being paid as much as $100,000 a pop for appearing at a nightclub and in the movie Spy (one day's work).
