Brewers Won't Ban Brew In Clubhouse

(Newser) – The Milwaukee Brewers will not be enacting a clubhouse ban on alcohol, bucking a trend started by the A's and Yankees after St. Louis reliever Josh Hancock died in a drunk driving accident. Ten other clubs already have such a ban; the Brewers, who play in Miller Park, announced yesterday they wouldn't be among them.

Milwaukee has, however, toned down its alcohol theme in the past; in recent years, it discontinued having its mascot slide joyously into a vat of beer to celebrate home team home runs. Pitcher Chris Capuano remarked of the laissez-faire policy: "For the most part they treat us like adults."
