Cops: TV Show Inspires Mom to Hide Bodies of Daughter, Dad
Cheyanne Jessie, 25   (Polk County Sheriff's Office)

A 25-year-old Florida woman was charged with murder after allegedly killing her father and 6-year-old daughter and then using an episode of Criminal Minds for inspiration when hiding the bodies. According to WFLA, the Polk County Sheriff's Office believes Cheyanne Jessie killed daughter Meredith to keep her from interfering with her relationship with her boyfriend; it has no motive for the killing of her father, Mark Weekly. The two were last seen July 18, and after fielding numerous questions about their whereabouts, Jessie finally reported the two missing Saturday, says Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd. NBC News reports inconsistencies bubbled up in Jessie's story, and the bodies, which had been shot and stabbed, were found the next day; she was arrested.

According to the Ledger, Jessie allegedly left the bodies of her father and daughter on Weekly's floor for four days before watching an episode of the long-running crime drama. The show gave her the idea to make use of plastic totes, says Judd, and she then "scrap[ed] them up with a shovel," as the Ledger puts it, and transferred the remains into totes she then stacked in the landlord's shed. Jessie reportedly claimed her father killed Meredith before she killed him in self defense, but the Sheriff's Office says the evidence doesn't support that, and Jessie's own aunts told the Ledger they believe she is capable of murder.
