Cops Charge Brother in Mass Killing

Posted Mar 8, 08 5:56 PM CST in Crime & Courts    Most Covered

(Newser) – Memphis police collared a man yesterday and charged him in a mass killing that shocked the city last weekend. Jessie Dotson, 33, allegedly shot his brother Cecil, 30, in an argument and then murdered five possible witnesses. “When Jessie left, he believed everyone in the home was dead,” a police director said. “But as we know, through the grace of God, three children survived.”

Two of the five kids died, and survivors are still recovering from stab wounds in a hospital. One identified his uncle, who then confessed, police say. Dotson was hit with six charges of first-degree murder and three counts of attempted first-degree murder today. He was released from prison just 5 weeks ago, after serving 14 years for second-degree murder, the Memphis Commercial Appeal reports.
