Husband's Tribute to Late Wife: 400 Acres of Sunflowers

Iowa's Don Jaquish will sell the seeds to benefit cancer research

Sunflowers were her favorite, so when Babbette Jaquish died last year, husband Don knew the perfect tribute: The Wisconsin farmer planted 400 acres of them in Eau Claire along Highway 85, reports ABC News. He owned some of the land, and neighbors rented him the rest at a good price. The flowers are now in bloom, and the gesture won't be a short-lived one: Jaquish is following up on his wife's idea to sell the seeds to benefit cancer research. He's doing so through Babbette's Seeds of Hope. "I think she would be smiling," he says. (More uplifting news stories.)
