Shaq Sparks Suns in Win Over Spurs

Posted Mar 9, 08 10:10 PM CDT in Sports

(Newser) – Don’t count Shaquille O’Neal out just yet. The big man put up some all-around big numbers for the Suns today, as they defeated the Spurs, 94-87. Shaq scored 14 points, while also snagging 16 rebounds for Phoenix in their road win. Steve Nash, one of five others to put up double-digit numbers, led the team with 19 points and 14 assists, reports the Arizona Republic

The Spurs managed just two points in the game’s final five minutes, and were held to 34.9% shooting overall. Despite those poor numbers they led much of the game, before reserve guard Damon Stoudamire put the Suns ahead for good with 1:57 left in the fourth quarter. Manu Ginobli led San Antonio with 22 points.
